In reply to: Membership site becomes unreachableAlso these are private students just working from their homes. Ditto for me. No fire walls.
I am beginning to think it is my webhosting set up – possibly something about the way the redirect happens when they change their password for wordpress after the first login (seem to be the most common trigger).
When they fail to login something is getting cached somewhere saying it didn’t work.
Now that I think about it – this happened to me (unable to reach my own website) and I solved the problem by setting my DNS on my desktop to use googles DNS and it solved the problem.
Now to try to explain to them how to change their DNS settings.

In reply to: Membership site becomes unreachableThanks for responding.
Although – Nope – no caching plugin -it’s a very small private online class so I don’t bother with caching on this site as only about a dozen people will be accessing it.

In reply to: Blogger import and pubDate in XML feedI had the exact same problem – imported old blogger posts with comments.
When I went into the dashboard the timestamp appeared correctly for the posts – but the feed had the date of 1969. Solution for now – I can open up each post that was imported – checked the box to edit timestamp – and it fixed the problem. But what a waste of time – fortunately I don’t have many posts. I did only the ones that are currently in my home page feed but I need to fix the others.
Blog is http://blog.lisacall.com – maybe I did something wrong? I couldn’t find a resolution for this problem when I did a search.
I know the 2 of us aren’t the only ones with this problem as I just saw another blog imported from blogger with the exact same problem. Everything looks correct in dashboard and in the archives – the timestamp appears correctly when the pages display – but the feed is incorrect. the address is http://www.lizplummer.com/blog/
My comment notification is flakey – sometimes I get notified – sometimes I don’t. I’m hoping this timestamp thing is the problem. I haven’t had time to investigate how comment notification works or to think about the pattern of what is emailed to me and what is missed – but I’m hoping there are some timestamp comparisons that are failing (could this be?). Cause otherwise I’ve got an intermittent annoying problem that I don’t want to think about. Arg…
