  • It was more like a feature request. If it is implemented I would update several pages in my site:
    https://grupliec.com/

If you see the “qui som” (who we are) there is the whole team, with one team page for person, and the reference list. This list unfortunately is incomplete for the problem I told you.

If the request is accepted and implemented, I would update the code in every person’s page asap.

    Hello,

I had the same problem in Spanish speakers context, most people use 2 surnames, and it’s almost impossible to guess, sometimes we use 1, other times 2, other times with a “-” or without, etc., so it always will be incomplete, since you have to write exactly the surname as is listed in zotero.

So listing authors by the code is not a good option in our case, the “code search” don’t do it fine.

BUT I found the search bar works excellent, with only a part of the surname it will list correctly the references.

So, one possible workarround is to set a searchbar with a pre-determined search. A code that shows me the results of Corredor, in this example.

    For example:
    [zotpressLib userid=”XXXXXXXX” type=”searchbar” pre-search=”Corredor”]

And loading the page, shows all the results, without the need of writing. and maybe hide the searchbar itself, showing only the results, replacing this way the default references listing by author.

That would be optimal for us and would solve the problem of exact writing of the authors, the apostrophes, dashes, etc.

I explained that some time ago, let’s hope it would be reconsidered:

    Hi,
    A) Actually, to add an item in the current simple news plugin, I have to add:
    1. title
    2. URL
    3. image (thumbnails)
    4. excerpt.

    B) In facebook and twitter, when you put an URL, the title, image and excerpt is added automatically, people don’t need to add it manually. Also, there is a WP plugin (works only inside a post or page) which adds a box with title, thumbnail and excerpt, automatically, only adding the URL manually (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/visual-link-preview/).

    SO

    C) It would be amazing to make “simple news” to do:
    1. Only add the URL (and select/add category)
    2. The Title, Thumbnail and excerpt is added automatically (and the original publication date would be just great), just like twitter, facebook and the WP plugins visual-link-preview
    3. the page with the code “[news]” just add a new item fast only by pasting the URL, including the title, image and excerpt.

I have hundreds of news to add to wordpress… I think in most cases there is no really need to edit the final result. Is it possible? I have read that twitter cards system do something like that.

It would be really amazing to make that!

In sharepoint there is that easy option, called “web part news”.

    Plugins that do something simmilar:

Vertical News Scroller is very similar to yours, but not open, paying.

Another wordpress plugin seems to do it, I didn’t test it, is very expensive:
    WP News and Scrolling Widgets

I just want to list a lot of news by category, and I’m sure is possible just by adding the link: having title, thumbnails and 3 lines, in a grid or something like that for example: https://mspoweruser.com/site-feedback-layout-prefer-latest-news-lists-grids/. If there is the posibility to add bulk URL separated by comma, you would just be our hero!

There is also a lot of plugins which do that with internal posts, but none with external links

There are more people in the web asking for it (I did the last question):

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/looking-for-a-plugin-141/#post-12725048

    Is it possible?

    Thank you!

Hey, I just found an amazing free plugin that do what you ask, except for being totally automatic.

Hello @tanja29 I’ve been looking for that, and your initial description sounds amazing with SharePoint. The visual link preview is good for links inside a post, but not to make a page only to add links (news).
The answer of @tylerthedude seems good to make a page and just add link and category (the the page update with the thumbnails, title and a little text) with a grid. But is too expensive.
Is any other alternative there free or cheaper?
    Thank you

Hope you find the answer, Also I would like to know how do you do that (I didnt found the option of direct message). I work with plugins and maximum help, minimum CSS (yet)

    Hello,
Maybe this is not the reason, I have in the same page search and list working together perfectly, in different blocks:

    <p>[zotpressLib userid="5778412" type="searchbar" searchby="items,tags" minlength="4" download="no" cite="no" target="new"]</p>

Then a title block, and then

    <p>[zotpress userid=”5778412″ sortby=”date” order=”desc” title=”year” style=”apa” download=”no” cite=”no” target=”new”]</p>

    Check it out at:
    https://grupliec.com/publicacions/

Maybe try to do different blocks in the same page
