I just assumed that the plugin would change the response code automatically, or that there would be a way to tell the plugin to do so. I ended up attaching an HTTP header to my 404 file that would set the response code to 404, which is resulting in a 301 followed immediately by a 404. It looks like it’s working although it may not be ideal, but will update again if it doesn’t resolve the issue

Thanks for the reply. Here’s the link to the log file.

I’d also like to add that I tried two additional back-ups: one where I only disabled backing up the uploads folder, which succeeded, and one where I disabled backing up any files except for the uploads folder, which failed in much the same manner as it had when attempting a full backup.

    • I don’t have a firewall on my site
    • I’ve already deactivated all my plugins
    • I’m on a managed WordPress hosting plan, so I’m unable to update to the latest version of PHP (although my site is on 7.2, which isn’t super old)
    • My site’s SSL was configured by my host, which I suppose could be causing some problems. I’ll probably be reaching out to them for more help on this
    • I’ve also confirmed this isn’t a DNS issue, as I was able to access the DNS settings and verify that they’re all OK

I’ll reach out to my hosting provider for further counsel, but if anyone has any possible solutions that I may not have explored yet then please let me know. I don’t expect a whole lot from web hosting customer service…
