– Domain does not support SSL
– but it entered the SSL URLs (https)

If you look at the Broken Link (http://www.truthonion.com/?author=2) LOG you will see to referer url.
This plugin works over 404. If you get to mail notification from the broken link manager, surely, there is a broken link.

Your theme can be a problem.
Broken Link Manager working principle;
– Backlink (of example : http://yourdomain/xxx) is broken go to 404.php (standard WordPress operation)
– if you add redirected url for this link (http://yourdomain/xxx). It will redirect whit 301 medhot to redirected url (and save to LOG)
– if you don’t add to redirected url for broken link (http://yourdomain/xxx) only save to broken link in LOG and will show to 404 page.Maybe your theme secand time working 404.php. I will If you get a result please write. Just in case I’ll test a few different themes.

The first method
– Click the menu to Broken URLs
– Write to redirected link (See the screenshot)

The second method (Bulk)
– Click the menu to Settings
– Mark to Redirect default URL
– Write to Default redirected URL
