The plugin I was using is called “Remove Protected”.
I also discovered that using the shortcode for my newsletter signup box to appear prevented the password from working (the password just didn’t do anything) but I just removed that and now it’s doing fine!

Ah! I figured it out. I was using another plugin to remove the word “Protected:” from the beginning of the page title. Deactivating that plugin made yours work. D’oh! I’m glad because editing the message is much more important to me!
Is that a feature you might potentially build into this plugin in the future? Even if it was just a checkbox in the reading settings, it would be awesome to have both features 🙂 Either way, never mind!
