Tried that, but found out that the structure of both XML files was too different for a quick workaround. Copied all the comments manually, took me an hour or two. Or more.
But I learned that I will have to warn people who want to use Disqus. It’s a f***ing one-way road! Way better to have your and your friends comments under your own control.
Yes, you’re absolutely right regarding third party companies, @coloradocolin. But since I’m migrating from a Tumblr blog to my self-hosted WordPress installation I don’t have much of a choice: transfer all comments manually or loose them – WTF!
But thank you for your reply anyway!By the way: I just followed Disqus’ advice, deactivated all other plugins and changed my blog’s theme to Kubrick. After that I tried to upload both file formats. Guess what I got? “Invalid file. Please upload a valid Disqus export file”…
Hey @coloradocolin: Since nobody seems to read this I’m asking myself if you’ve found a workaround for this issue? Managed to import anything from disqus during the last four weeks?
*bump*
Same problem here!
Tried both export formats, got the same error message. Help is appreciated.
