I asked the developer that wrote the code for keeping the WP installation in a subdirectory and her suggestion was the the plugin is referencing the wrong bloginfo for my install…
She wrote:
I do think this is an issue with the plugin. The reason being is that some plugin and theme developers reference the wrong bloginfo variable for their functions. They will reference the url instead of the wpurl or vice versa, because they never consider that the WordPress URL will ever be different than the site URL. They should look at the their code for those various functions and templates and be sure they are using the bloginfo or whatever filepath info they have coded to make sense for subdirectory installations.Does this sound like it may be the issue?
This is an older version 5.2.6, the client doesn’t want to update anything (!!), they do not have that tab but they do have this:
Disable new registration email? No
Check this option if you want to prevent the WordPress registration email from going out when a user anonymously books an event. So technically it should go out… all other notices are sent.
I’ve contacted their hosting company to see if they can help…
No, it does not use multisite, but I’ll see if I can undo the customization.
So anyone who books with the guest options mode active SHOULD be receiving an email with a password and usernamer? As an admin I AM receiving notifications that a new user has been added – sending is working. But the user is not receiving any notification – should they??
What about this — this site’s URL and the WordPress URL are not the same.
For ease of development the WP install in is actually in a subdomain, the index file, or I forget which file, is modified to point to the right file and the settings in the WP admin general settings are modified accordingly.
Could that be causing issues for submitting the login form?
Not to side track but a related issue…
I just noticed that anyone booking for the first time (guest user mode) is not sent a username or password. The user is setup in the Admin but nothing is sent to the person that booked the event as a guest user.
I’ve been adding a pw in the admin for my testing, but didn’t realize until now that I never received any notices for those users that an account was set up. Shouldn’t guest users be receiving an email with a username and pw? Where is the setting for that?
Yes, and just tried it again just to be sure. All plugins except EM where disabled and I still have the same problem.
Yes, the standard login form works fine with all the plugins on and all the plugins except EM disabled.
BTW even if I login using the WordPress login form, not the form on the event pages, and the backend says I’m logged in then technically — according to the link you sent — when I look at any of the event pages I should not see the “registration fields” on any events since I am logged in… but I do see them.
We have it set up so it allows guest bookings.
On the link you gave me, for guest users it says: The next time that user logs in to book for an event, they will not see these registration fields because they have already supplied you with this information the first time round.
So IF a returning guest user is able to login using the form next to the booking “registration form” then the only thing that would display on the page under Booking is the price and the button to send your booking?
Sorry, yes the gallery is NextGen gallery plugin and Google fonts are also installed via plugins.
I can check with the developers for Thematic but I don’t think the issue is with Thematic being incompatible with Event Manger…
But can someone please outline how booking by a user that has already booked one event in the past is supposed be able to book an event in the future…
So if someone has successfully booked an event, the next month they see another event that they want to attend and they want to book another event — they fill out the booking form but are told that they already have an account.
So they use the form to sign in which is next to the booking form on this site — what should happen after they click Login?
This is the point where things go bad for me — what should happen here — do they get a message above or below the form that they are logged in or do they get redirected to the wordpress backend… what happens?
If I am to find out from the Thematic developers I’d like to be able to describe how it is supposed to work… 🙂
Yes.
Yes, thematic has the wp-head() function in the header php file
Displaying the login form on the refreshed page after logging in is correct, no message saying you are now logged in, the form just stays there is correct?
I don’t see a booking from your test yet — were you able to book? Or did you see the dreaded spinning wheel…
There are no other logins or registration plugins just google analytics.
The standard WP login works no problem.
wp_head() function… not sure, its a child theme build on Thematic a while back, over a year or more, I’ll have to look it up.
ok your pw is testing
When you try to login using your testing account, using the login form on one of the events, nothing will happen.. no message that you are signed in, no redirect to another page.
And if you try to book the event without logging in after you hit submit nothing happens.
If necessary I ccan change the bookings to No-user booking mode… will that eliminate the problem…
Here is the link –
http://townecenterfitness.com/?page_id=3105 — this is the EM calendar — below is the rss feed page for printing the calendar
At the top: Choose week to print — choose before July and everything is fine, after July you will see the error – view the page source to see the full error message.
thank you.
Thank you I’ll check the dev version and then see if I can figure out how to php script time.
