yes, I have the same problem with large images or text- or if the user in IE has big fonts- it just pushes the sidebar down. I am not a CSS guru
I am thinking along the lines of textdrive and hostforweb I know that the devloper of wordpress is working with textdrive and hostforweb is hosting http://wp-plugins.net/ and they are always fast.
Say away from godaddy for hosting- everything else is fine with them but no reliability
