I have resolved this issue myself. At first the order changes in alphabetical order. One needs to go to the menu-admin, change nothing but save again. Then the menu is corrcet again.

I have tested Polylang with another theme on another site. Seems I have been impatient. The first time you look at the site after installing Polylang the menu shows incorrect. When you go to the menu-configuration in WP everything shows correct. Leaving the menu-configuration and going back to the site it shows correct. Beats me, but I have got it running now.

Thank you for your reply,
I have posted a similar question on the support-forum of the theme.
I know how to drag and drop the menu-items, but the order of the menu-items keeps on showing in alpabetical order. Everything was working fine until activating Polylang. De-activating Polylang gave me my original menu back. I would not be surprised if it is something in Polylang, given the other threads about changed menus in this forum.Bye
