@joemilesudp – Thanks so much for the effort and response, Joe. Unfortunately, I’ve already been deleting UDP from each client’s site when I go in to do their updates. This problem has only been with Godaddy’s Managed WordPress Hosting until yesterday when I did the updates for a client whose NOT on Managed WordPress Hosting and now I can no longer download any of the previous backups. I searched forums extensively and others are having this issue as well (for at least 5 months) and still not one response from Updraft Plus to help anyone out with this in the forums. I did all of the troubleshooting possible to do and still can’t download backups. I posted about it and still no response from UDP.

I do feel for UDP a bit on this ordeal with Godaddy however, I’m now learning since I’m no longer a paid user of the plugin that you get absolutely zero help anywhere if the plugin simply isn’t working correctly. I used to love the plugin and stood by it as well as once paid for it but now with such a slow response to this Godaddy issue as well UDP not helping people in the forums (for 5 months) when their plugin is broken – I still stand by one star. Especially as a web developer with many clients, there just isn’t enough time in the day to wait this long for a response to such major issues. Wish you the best however and hope you guys get over the hump with it.

Same here. All of a sudden, I can no longer download backups. I’ve rescanned local and remote. I tried a fresh backup. I tried deleting a few older backups. I’ve broken the download sizes into segments (even though this has never been needed before with this site). There are only 3 there now with only around 130mb total web-server disc space being used and none of them will download any longer. The window comes up for each (database, themes, plugins, etc) but then just sits there blank for every single one. So, I can backup but I can no longer download anything. This is on a Godaddy shared hosting server and NOT on Managed WordPress Hosting where Godaddy blacklisted Updraft recently.

I see others have had this issue and yet no real answers from Updraft anywhere? And if you’re using the free version – you get zero support so I would at least hope that Updraft would have the courtesy to provide answers in forums. Between the Godaddy ordeal and now this – I’m just about ready to no longer use Updraft in any of my clients websites.

This has been here for 5 months and still no help from Updraft?

My thoughts exactly, Kathy! It’s almost as if we’re being locked into Godaddy by not being allowed to use our own migration and cloning software. I’m a web developer and the fact that I now need to remedy this with 20+ sites is horrible. I also do WordPress maintenance for my clients and now instead of just running a backup in the clients dashboard, I now have to go through 5 more steps to login to their Godaddy account to do a backup each time. And do their backups even work for being able to migrate a site to some other host if need be?

And of course if you’re paying for Updraft (as I have in the past) – this is an even more awful move by Godaddy. It’s just way too controlling overall and the decision is designed to benefit Godaddy while being a complete inconvenience to their customers. It’s super backwards and their online info about any of it is absolutely useless so far. For instance – if their backups can be used anywhere. I highly doubt it.

Thanks for adding to this discussion! I’m deeply hopeful that somewhere, Godaddy will get the message that they really screwed up on this move. But if they’re moving in this direction in general, trying to make everything all about Godaddy… they can kiss my 20+ years of business goodbye along with all of the clients I’ve signed on to Godaddy and all those I won’t be signing onto Godaddy in the future.

Yeah, Godaddy really screwed up by disabling Updraft Plus (all of their products). But as previously mentioned… what really ticked me off was that we received zero warning. The email they’re sending out to all of my clients however, is complete rubbish and has all of my clients blowing me up suddenly and wondering WHY their website is over it’s data limit when in fact – it isn’t even close. You can’t even report this to UpDraft unless you’re a paying customer. Nearly 20 to 30 clients of my own will end up losing all of their backups now. It will cost me hours upon hours of making this right for each client. At least 10 of them will demand that I put them into a new host, which will equal far more time lost. UpDraft Plus Backups is completely disabled and everything lost.

Godaddy is really becoming a sorry platform after all. I’ve been faithful for over 20 years to them but this latest move by them is almost worthy of a class action lawsuit. This will cost me so much money and time to fix for all of my clients and when it’s over… I will never EVER put any of my clients into Godaddy ever again. And as soon as I find the time for ME… I’m outta there as well. And something tells me that Updraft Plus is also a part of the problem so I’m done with them as well. Ridiculous.
