In fact, I now can’t disable ‘complete deactivation’. After I save changes it is ticked again. Any thoughts?

I followed the steps as outlined, without uninstalling and reinstalling, only deactivating and reactivating, but it didn’t change anything. The error remains.
I have now also disabled “complete deactivation” to return Security to the state it was in before I followed your steps.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I’ll have to wait and see what happens when someone next tries to subscribe to the site. It might be a few days, or longer! I’m relatively new and so my audience is small and slow growing at present.
I’ll come back to you as soon as I know more about whether the issue has been fixed with the changes I just made.
