You are looking at webp image not optimised jpeg image.
Yes the problem still remains.

After lossless compression it increases the size almost double what it was

Got the same problem. It also increase the size of the image

Yes I did run the page caching plugin. As I promised I have even tested with my other sites. With very simple one AO used 9 gigs of space for caching. It was faster though but it stopped working when it didn’t have any more free space. I had no luck with other sites. They mostly slowed down. I tried using two different caching plugins: W3 and WP super cache.
