In reply to: FB button not working — "Page Not Found"Thanks very much, James, for your input. I am a newbie at all this and hardly know where to look to find help. Your thoughtfulness is really appreciated!
Thanks — you are right about that! Just got done giving Subscribe2 — and especially its author — a five-star review! Thanks again.
MattyRob, I can’t thank you enough for your responsiveness.
I was fooling around with this a few hours ago, before I got your last response, and did find my personal email somewhere where I didn’t think it should be, and substituted my Kristen@goodmarching email instead. (And for the life of me I can’t remember now where I changed this! — so I will keep your instructions handy in case I screw it up again somehow.)
I asked a friend to subscribe from my site, which she did, and she reported that she got a prompt confirmation email (with not a trace of my personal email), and when she clicked “confirm” it took her right to my site. Magic!
I can only assume that by complete accident I followed your instructions, above.
I’ve asked my friend to confirm that she does get a notification when I post my next blog, and to confirm that my personal email is not lurking within. But it certainly seems to be working precisely the way I had hoped it would now.
Thank you so much. As you can no doubt infer, computer language in its most basic form is still completely foreign to me, but I am far ahead of where I was just two days ago!
Thanks again,
KristenMattyRob, the menu link works, and an email confirmation was sent to my husband. However, that email contained my home/personal email address and not the one I have registered for use with my blog ([email protected]).
I don’t want my home email address going out there. I checked my web hosting service (Bluehost) and they have [email protected] as my registered email associated with my blog. However, when someone comments on my blog, I get an email notification at my home/personal email.
In Subscribe2, I have it set to have emails sent from Good Marching, my blog name.
I don’t know where/how my home/personal email is getting into the Subscribe 2 emails. Any ideas?
Thanks!! I’m making progress.
Kristen
http://www.goodmarching.comMattyRob, I think it may have worked! I took the liberty of signing my husband up for my blog (whether he wants it or not) and will check to see if he got the confirmation email. Thanks so much!
KristenThank you MattyRob. Yes, I did create a WordPress page for Subscribe2 and named it “Subscribe by Email.” I inserted the “S2” button from the QuickBar, as the installation directions dictated.
When I look at that page through my dashboard, it shows “You may manage your subscription options from your profile” and the reader can click on the word profile and it takes them to the “Notifications settings” page.
However, after logging out of my WordPress account and visiting my site, as you suggested, I still see no indication of Subscribe 2 on my site, on the home page or anywhere else. I am expecting to see a “Subscribe by Email” block or icon or something, as I do on other sites, and a space for people to include their email and click “subscribe.”
In other words, how do readers find the “Subscribe by Email” page in the first place?
I left the plugin activated in case you have a chance to take a look. Maybe I’m blind??
Thanks for your amazingly quick response!
Kristen
