Dear @missveronicatv you got it absolutely right. A speed optimizer plugin provided by the hosting (SiteGround) actually had this Lazy Load Media activated by default (wasn’t aware of it). As I deactivated it, the “upload and apply” worked, and the UM profile was correctly updated.

Solution found. It was a cache issue as actually stated in some online pages (such as https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/1518-password-reset-doesnt-work). Furthermore in my case I needed to install a specific wordpress plugin (SG Optimizer) indicated by the provider (SiteGround) so as to exclude that page from the caching process, as well as others. Otherwise I couldn’t have any control over it.
Hope this could help someone with similar provider issue.
