Hi!
I’m facing the same issue and tried to fix it by adding the above-mentioned line to functions.php to no avail – the site goes down.
Any ideas?

Problem solved. Confirmed!Same case here. 4 different themes, 4 different installations. Captcha validation just disappeared from everywhere. Comments, admin login page, lost password recovery.
I do have a caching plugin, cleared cache but still the same. In one of the installations mentioned above there is also a CDN configured. Cache purged also there to no avail.
Tested used both “Disqus” commenting system and “Comments Evolved for WordPress”. Used to work fine with both these platforms prior to the upgrade to 3.7. You can have a look here in a post/installation using “Comments Evolved for WordPress”.
