I had the same question but did some google searches and figured it out. You have to go into “menus” and add a menu. Then add custom links to the menu. Choose “social menu” as the menu location. Hope that helps!
If I choose to make changes to the menu using the live preview
(Appearance > Customize > Menus) then it won’t save any changes I make to the menu.
But I just discovered that if I just choose Appearance > Menus to edit the menus, it will save the changes. So I’ll consider this resolved.

Thanks, I’ll try that. But this theme was supposed to have that functionality already built in. I was trying to see if it’s a glitch or something.
