In fact to go further it seems to be the shortcode functionality of Jetpack that is causing the maps not to display. If I disable the shortcode functionality of Jetpack then I can get the maps to show.

I was also suffering from this problem and I found that something in the Jetpack plugin is causing the map not to display. I suspect that this is going to be a major hindrance to many who may be wanting to use this plugin.

Thanks, I tried that (that very link in fact) but it didn’t work. I suspect because of the complexity of the theme I’m using. I’ll have some time to think about this more deeply in the next couple of days.

This issue seems to have been fixed in version 1.6.
I’ve tested it using:
Chrome, Safari, Firefox – MacOS Mountain Lion
Internet Explorer 9.0 – Windows 7
