  • Well, you have my total gratitude for what you’ve done, the plugin has been a fantastic first line of defence.

I hope you get yourself sorted out – and wish you all the very best for the future.

    Take care dood !

Ok, didn’t exactly solve the issue, but resolved it 🙂

I put back a site/database backup from last week before the trouble started. Updated the plugin to its latest version, then reset the tabs – all is working properly again.

Should have thought of that earlier 🙂

    Damn thing. Spoke too soon.

Just checked and the error is back.

I think your suspicions were right, and its a database problem. If I empty the xxx_slim_stats table, the error goes away. As soon as the table gets any data in it, the error returns.

I’ve checked every table in the entire database, analyzed them, optimized them and repaired them all – everything comes back as ‘OK’, except trying to repair the 5 slimstats db’s returns “The storage engine for the table doesn’t support repair”.

I don’t know what else to do – all I know about wp and db’s I’ve picked up from google, and my limited knowledge is exhausted. If you’ve got any ideas I’d love to hear them 🙂

Thanks Camu – you are a Gent 🙂

I just wrote a long post detailing all the steps I’d tried and suggestions I’d followed……. uninstalled slimstat, did some tidying up, reinstalled slimstat……and now it works fine 🙂

I ‘think’ it may have been something to do with the ‘All-In-One WP security’ plugin I’m running. It has a section that disables editing of php files (by htaccess rules). I turned off this feature, and the slimstat page disappeared, with 3 lines of errors at the top of the admin area (‘no such stream’ and ‘for each something in array’ is all I remember)

Thats when I uninstalled SS again, made sure that php editing was enabled, reinstalled SS and then disabled php edits again.

Like I say, I ‘think’ that may have been the problem, but am in no way certain – but maybe that avenue might help someone else 🙂

    Thanks again Camu – you’re a diamond 🙂

Haha, that was it 🙂 Seems to be working great now.

Only problem I have now is that since I re-installed every page is showing the dreaded “WARNING: a misconfigured setting and/or server environment is preventing WP SlimStat ……..”

I’ve been through the faq, as well as every result google can give me for that message. 🙁 grrrrrrr bloody computers !!

OK, I’m off to give you 5 stars, and thanks for your time AND patience – its really appreciated – Thank you ! 🙂

Ok Camu, I’m out of my depth now 🙂

Is it a slimstat db thats corrupt? If it is, wouldn’t deleting the plugin and its databases, then reinstalling have fixed the problem?

The only errors to show so far are

[03-Dec-2013 16:45:25 UTC] WordPress database error Duplicate key name "resource_idx" for query ALTER TABLE xxxxx_slim_stats ADD INDEX resource_idx(resource(20)) made by do_action("slimstat_page_wp-slim-config"), call_user_func_array, wp_slimstat_admin::wp_slimstat_include_config, include("/plugins/wp-slimstat/admin/config/index.php"), include_once("/plugins/wp-slimstat/admin/config/maintenance.php")

Going through the settings, in the maintenance tab there is now:-

WARNING: a misconfigured setting and/or server environment is preventing WP SlimStat from properly tracking your visitors.

(I’m pretty sure this wasn’t there before). Pointing my browser at admin-ajax.php gives a “0”

Could we be making progress? 🙂

Just uninstalled slimstats, made sure the relevant databases were deleted, reinstalled the plugin – and still exactly the same, with no errors showing in any logs.

    Thread Starter griff701

    (@griff701)

Well, after my earlier post I cleared every error_log in my install and went back looking at all the stats pages, and theres nothing showing up in any log. Every one is clear.

I’ll go and try repairing the db’s and see if that helps. Failing that I’d be prepared to allow you access to my cPanel if you’d like to take a look and see if you can get more of an idea what the problem is.

Two different types of error I can see easily.

Exactly the same, no change at all here either – same 5 panels showing as in the first screen shot of post 1.

Allowing debug shows the following error at the top of the ‘overview’ page

(I should have said “The third site I have slimstats installed on shows 12 panels”)
