Everything seems to be ok. I can modify colors as you describe.
I still have problem becouse I can not get rid of this solid blue color over free and busy colors. You can see it on m test site: http://vertigo5.ayz.pl/wp/bajka-o-wilku/
Meybe it is due to other css settings but I am not so familiar with code editing to find it.
