Although in CSS for at least 15 years I find styling plugins quite challenging. So I finally installed Yellow Pencil (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/yellow-pencil-visual-theme-customizer/) and styled the PGC (e.g. background-color of arrows and navigation items) in my page. It just works out fine and saves you a lot of time.
