Hi,
I disabled Jetpack and Wordfence (the only things that I can think would have a firewall function) but I was still unable to connect.
I disabled all of my plugins except this one and was then able to authenticate with the authentication keys. I’ve re-enabled all of the plugins and it still seems fine, so, unfortunately, I can’t confirm what other plugin was causing an issue!

I’ve also downgraded my WordPress install to 4.8.9 which is the most recent version of WordPress that this plugin is tested with, and I am still getting the same error.
