Here is the section in Settings-> Writing when using ver. 3.4.2 that is not in ver. 3.5

    Remote Publishing

To post to WordPress from a desktop blogging client or remote website that uses the Atom Publishing Protocol or one of the XML-RPC publishing interfaces you must enable them below.

Atom Publishing Protocol Atom Publishing Protocol Enable the Atom Publishing Protocol.
XML-RPC XML-RPC Enable the WordPress, Movable Type, MetaWeblog and Blogger XML-RPC publishing protocols.

For whatever reason, version 3.5 removes this section and this is why I get the error message I indicated above.

I have already considered this and wrote “but which one will take forever to find out and if I need it for my work, I cannot get rid of it”. So what is the point – I’ll just have to find a work-around.

Seems to be, but which one will take forever to find out and if I need it for my work, I cannot get rid of it.

Even if I do as you suggest, if it is a plugin that I need to do my work, then finding out will not really help me proceed to a solution. Thanks anyway.

I know it’s not a theme as the message has appeared no matter which theme I am using. It could be a plugin, but I have no idea which one it could be or how to fix it. Thanks anyway.

When I update to 3.5, I get the following message: Attention: XML RPC Is not enabled. XMLRPC requires this option to be enabled. Please go to Settings -> Writing and enable the XML-RPC option under Remote Publishing.
With the update, I don’t have Remote Publishing available under Settings-> Writing, so I cannot enable Remote Publishing since it is not there.
