The last WooCommerce update from yesterday seems to solve the problem. The problem started since a previous update of the plugin. Further I didn’t make any changes to the plugin or website.
I’ll keep checking if the problem is really solved.

I have the same problem. But I guess omerdror means the featured images isn’t shown. The gallery is working fine. What I do to solve it: also add the featured image to the gallery images.
