I am not inherintly using a picture tag, but rather a standard IMG tag. I let Imagify convert the img tags to webp.

this is the very simple code:

The IMG shows fine, the converted webp shows fine as well, but you can imagine the unnecessarily nested tags make CSS targeting rather difficult.
