In reply to: WordPress 4.4 new translations are available update problemNo caching is running at this time.
Examined the “wordpress/wp-content” folder and found a “wordpress/wp-content/ languages” sub-folder. This folder had a last modified date inconsistent with the other folders and files.
Renamed that folder to “wordpress/wp-content/languages_old” and refreshed the “WordPress Updates” page and the “updates available” notification disappeared.
This could have been an folder left over from an earlier WordPress installation (before switching over to multisite).
I’m a super admin for a wordpress multisite installation. Following yesterday’s update the widget no longer displays on any dashboard other than the network admin’s dashboard. The check box for “Enable activity report widget on dashboard:” is checked, but, the widget only displays on the network dashboard. I did try to uncheck, save, then check, save the option. This didn’t make any difference. I’m running Wordfence Version 5.3.12 and WordPress 4.2. Thoughts?
Ugh! One of the best programs around for protecting my website is continuously running out of memory on my installation.
I’m going to upgrade from 5.2.9 to 5.3.1 and hope this problem is resolved.
I’m not sure whether or not it’s related to recent WordFence updates (they have been several in the last few weeks) but I’m getting fatal errors from scans and scans that fail to complete. This is very annoying.
This used to be an awesome product. I have both the paid and free editions installed on different sites and have this problem across them all.
It’s a deal killer.

In reply to: WordPress plugin changes install directory when deleted and reinstalledI’m pretty sure it’s the operating system that is appending the number to the end of the directory. It might be a caching problem since it seems to have gone away. There isn’t much written about this anywhere. I think this was a transient problem that seems to have stopped.
WordPress Plugin installation was the program that was unzipping the uploaded file. If the directory didn’t exist, WordPress (the unzip, unpack, copy progress that occurs behind the scenes) was creating the directory, not the plugin itself.
I updated the “under construction” plug in after the error on line 135. As reported earlier (under a different topic), after updates to other plugins, I get the following error message:
Update Plugins
Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.
After plugins are updated, I check the splash page and is says “Briefly unavailable …”, so the “[url … is coming soon]” page is MIA.
A quick check of the wordpress root reveals that the “.maintenance” file is left in the root directory. Deleted the “.maintenance” file and everything is working hunky dory.
So it’s possible the “under construction” plug in isn’t allowing updates to complete the last step (deleting the “.maintenance” file on the wordpress site’s root folder).
I don’t have this plugin installed on other wordpress sites I’m running. And don’t have any plugin update problems. Since the problem site is the only one running “under construction” plugin, this has got to be some sort of WAD failure.
Thoughts?

In reply to: [underConstruction] Broken on WP 3.5.1Ok, updated plug-in and the admin log in issue appears fixed. Don’t know yet about the next update to another plug-in but assumption is that this is also repaired. Thanks!!!

In reply to: [underConstruction] Broken on WP 3.5.1Ok … so I’ve been using the plug in with the work around after login failure as administrator to go back to the ULR and change it to /wp-admin to get it. So this morning a different plug in needs updating. Immediately after initiating the update, I get a message that I the site if off the air for the update, and the plugin didn’t finish updating.
This was a nice plug-in but now it’s got to go!!! If you ever get this fixed, let me know and maybe I’ll come back to reuse it.

In reply to: [underConstruction] Broken on WP 3.5.1Shoot … I’m having the same problem as everyone else. After the recent upgrade to 1.10 the plug-in has stopped working. I deleted the plugin from my site’s sub-directly and everything seems to be working fine. Then, after a fresh install of the plug-in, it stops working again.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_editable_roles() in [OMITTED]/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/underconstruction/underConstruction.php on line 135
After the fatal error, if I got back and enter the [OMITTED]/wordpress/wp-admin/ then I’m in.
Can you role back to the prior version??? I don’t think I saved it anywhere??? Thoughts???
