Hi Kevin. Thanks for your response and pointer to dev branch. It did clear up our issues, allowing the cron jobs to run successfully.
As a token of appreciation, I put in a pull request to make your fix more robust in case wp or some plugin eventually sets one of the checked variables to false instead of true vs undefined.
