I am still having an issue with my permalinks as above. My developer believes the problem is with the Host Server and the Host claims the problem is with WP.
Can anyone offer any help please?

I am in the C-Panel now and have found all the folders seem to be set to 0771 as you thought with the contents set to 0644. I have changed the following folders to 0775:
wp-admin
wp-content
wp-includes
This worked a treat – Thank you very much 🙂
