Ok, so I tried running Wordfence in high sensitivity mode which unfortunately fails. The standard mode works, however it is not mentioning any issues with the F0xAutoConfig directories. It does complain about php.ini files at unexpected locations in the WP core, though.
So my idea is to first contact the hoster and see if they maybe know about these files. Otherwise, do you think it is safe to just delete the suspicious stuff?

so the main things I noticed when I tried to update the theme were
- The symbols in the menu/navigation bar get messed up (the arrow-symbol per menu item is displayed twice). Furthermore, the page logo is displayed differently (the page title is displayed which shouldn’t be the case).
- The section site-content is empty, hence the content of all pages is not displayed.
Does that help or do you need any additional details?
