Adding a call to the footer in the single post template resolved this problem.

Actually, you know what, you are right – the single.php file did not have a call to the footer. I’ve tested in my local env. I will try on the production server and resolve this if it works.

@jewlofthelotus – thank you for the quick reply! Forgive my ignorance, here, but my index.php and main blog template both have this call:
< ? php get_footer(); ? >
and the footer.php has this at the bottom:
< ? php wp_footer(); ? >
I added extra spaces in there, but you know what it should look like. So, is there something incorrect about these calls, or am I missing something else?
