There were two things of which I was certain: somewhere in the theme, there was this hover style and I couldn’t find it; and two, there was a syntax error in my CSS.
You quickly fixed both.

Just tripped across a page that explained the license is called an access key. Problem fixed. Why is this buried?
The plugin appears to let your do this. Set up your page in four columns (if you don’t know how to do this, use a plugin like SiteOrigin page builder). Then navigate to the sitemap plugin, click on the tab that says “how to use” and you will see the list of shortcodes. Grab the appropriate shortcodes and place them in the different columns.
