Rename the “corrupt” .htaccess file to something else. Go back to the admin panel. It should be back there. Then deactivate the plugin. This will re-generate a .htaccess file.
You can then keep this file or get your old .htaccess from a backup (if you have it elsewhere).
The last version of the plugin has some bug in the generation of the sitemaps.

the last plugin update has broken the sitemap functionality.
Calling http://subdomain.domain.com/sitemap_index.xml returns 404.
Can you please fix this? Your plugin rocks!
Does anyone have an idea where to start looking for a fix? Which files, etc… Any hint is welcome.
