Hi JS,
we are not yet “pro” users of the plugin, since we in the process of testing and evaluating different features of it. It looks promising though.
1) “Just change the Polylang language” – tried that, but it didn’t change anything. I guess the Polylang language-switcher in the menu-bar, is for switching content-language in WordPress, and the “WPSSO User Locale Selector” is for changing the localization of the wp-backend. It worked with “WPSSO User Locale Selector” where I was able to change values for Schema/Organization for multiple languages. We are used to change values (like Site title, tagline) in Polylang string translations.
As i understood your answer to question #4 (licensing), we would need one license ($39.95), no regard how many different polylang languages we have enabled on the same WP installation and we will still get localized Schema/meta tagging on each of the polylang-enabled languages? (Even though a thousand languages and domains are registered in Polylang-settings, there’s still only one domain in WordPress Settings -> General).
Since we (my company) are in the process of examining and evaluating WPSSO, we want to ask if it would possible to get in contact directly with you, for asking the correct questions and getting answers quickly? We would need to understand how we can setup these plugins easily and get the benefits they provide most effectively.
Regards, Thomas
Hi JS, thanks for getting back so fast.
I’m not sure on some howtos here, so i have some new questions that i hope you can answer for me. Your plugin has a lot of pages and fields, so i’m unsure of where to do the changes that i need.
1) i’ve read the /admin.php?page=wpsso-setup but don’t seem to find information about how to enter different language-values for Google/Schema fields on this page: /admin.php?page=wpsso-essential (i understand that different logos isn’t possible yet).
2) great
3) great
4) how do i calculate license-usage – ie. we have a single-site wordpress, which has polylang enabled for multiple languages and each languages are set up with its own domain (like DK=example.dk, SE=example.se, NO=example.no)ok i will ask our developers, for the last two issues.
I got most of it out in the sitemap.xml and i’m glad. Thank you for the help.upgraded to polylang latest and your plugin latest.
– it now displays multiple frontpages in sitemap-home.xml
– regarding robots.txt that return a 404. Actually it’s all robots.txt, that does this. Maybe it’s on our serversetup or is it the plugin? Do you have a test page with your plugin, where we can access the robots.txt and get a http-200?
– brands taxonomy, i’m not sure how its setup. I think it’s a taxonomy-list, without translations or language specific terms – is there something like a “global taxonomy” list?Just a note – our site is running wp4.5.2 and polylang 1.8.4, so we are not on the latest version of polylang, regarding your comment about our sitemap-home.xml is missing other languages. Should we update?
Hi again,
great if you would look into getting the different language homepages into sitemap-home.xml.
i looked into the issue with our sitemap-taxonomy-brand.xml and its actually a common taxonomy (used by all languages), that has a link page for every taxonomy-term. Changing the language didn’t change the view, the same “brands” were present in all 4 nordic languages. But I need google to understand that we have not only http://test.komputer.dk/?brand=plantronics, but also have the same pages in other languages:
http://test.komputer.no/?brand=plantronics
http://test.pctidningen.se/?brand=plantronics
http://testit.kotimikro.fi/?brand=plantronics
It seems that only “test.komputer.dk” urls of the brand-links are present in the sitemap. We have now added every domain into GWT and it seems to accept them, but when we try to access robots.txt urls on other domains than test.komputer.dk (main), then it shows the page, but returns a 404, which makes GWT complain.
You can see it when loading for example http://test.komputer.no/robots.txt or http://test.pctidningen.se/robots.txt into http://web-sniffer.net – it returns a 404 but present the content correctly.
http://send.digital/shares/b83f0267-5d5d-0247-9e7e-309acedfe0b6well yes, i think so š
http://send.digital/shares/810e1d7c-2de6-5d8e-bbb6-004d2e4bbb93hi again, I have installed your plugin on our productionsite now and it produces a sitemap.xml (http://test.komputer.dk/sitemap.xml), but i miss some info in it:
sitemap-home.xml only includes one of the domains (test.komputer.dk), but i’ve registered other domains within polylang: test.komputer.no, test.pctidningen.se and testit.kotimikro.fi.
sitemap-posttype-review.xml seems fine, it seems to include all reviews from all four domains.
sitemap-taxonomy-brand.xml only includes “brands” from one domain, test.komputer.dk (i think this is our own fault)
sitemap-taxonomy-review_type.xml includes correct paths from different domains.Lastly GWT’s testtool also complains about the sitemap (in danish though):
http://send.digital/shares/54a91c5a-ed58-c8ff-8221-85c7c08939e4
it says something about “Fejl” = “error” and “Denne webadresse er ikke tilladt for et Sitemap pĆ„ dette sted” = “This webaddress are not allowed for a sitemap here.”. Is that because of our robots.txt setup on the site? It seems to allowed and point sitemap to http://test.komputer.dk/sitemap.xml@ravanh, i’m still working with my SEO colleague on testing if XML sitemap “all inclusive” in enough for GWT.
But I have another question: the fix you suggested topwise of this thread, will that be included in a future release of your plugin or am I supposed to include this manually everytime you update the plugin?Great, i will try this and hopefully have it verified in GWT. Will return with answer.
I don’t think I can get about only having one sitemap.xml url with all subdomain urls, according this page: http://www.microsystools.com/products/sitemap-generator/help/multiple-domains-xml-sitemaps/
and this one: http://www.sitemaps.org/protocol.html#location@ravanh, is this something i need to address at Polylang forum or is it correct here at your plugin-forum?
Thanks amboutwe.
I found this link as well, stating that each domain on a site should have its own sitemap.xml url :/
