It wouldn’t be a big deal replacing the images if it didn’t lose the accompanying info (title, description and link) when the image is replaced under “edit slide”. Is that a bug?

I agree, I was about to go pro when I realized the plugin is what was killing my site. Fits our needs perfectly, too, as we needed a “Filing Cabinet” page with all folders and files, but then to also show foldered (categorized) content on specific pages from specific categories as well.
I keep having the same issue. Pages don’t load (or time out) intermittently when WP-Filebase is enabled. Deactivate and all goes back to normal. Running Windows 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5.
