In reply to: [Events Manager - Calendar, Bookings, Tickets, and more!] Can I import icalI kinda agree with @BirdseyeLA. But I would give google calendar (api/ics) priority billing. In my world I don’t know of ANYONE who relies on FB for calendaring … but there are a lot of NFPs and small businesses who use google apps as a major tool in their day to day operations.
The nice thing about EM is that it gives website visitor a nice UI to an organization’s calendar without requiring that they sign up for anything (FB for example). Google Calendar goes some way towards this … but it is not pretty looking 🙂 and the UI is a little clunky.
Also, IMO any such APIs for EM should be paid plugins (or require Pro), as it would have real value, and, I for one would be happy to pay a reasonable amount.
@angelo_nwl thanks for the links. I checked them out, and although I’m sure they’d work they need a lot of massaging for my installation. I may well end up using them once when I migrate an existing calendar to EM (unless there’s something better).

In reply to: [BP Group Documents] BP BP Group Documents and Buddypress Break InstallationProblem occurs (for me) only in conjunction Events Manager.
I deactivated ALL plugins then installed and activated EM, then re-introduced all others, one by one, starting with Buddypress. Problem occurs when I activate BP Group Documents.
see this chain that describes the debug that I did with EM …
It’s either BP Group Documents or Events Manager but not both 🙁

In reply to: [BP Group Documents] BP BP Group Documents and Buddypress Break InstallationCorrection … title should read “BP Group Documents and Events Manager Break Installation”. Sorry ’bout that.
and the culprit is …
bp-group-documents
install this (along with the rest of buddypress – see above for what I have installed), then try to update the events manager date formats (Settings / Formatting / Date Time) and I think you’ll get the problem.
I’d really like the bp-group-documents functionality. Should I be raising an alarm on their support forum?
wp 3.6.1
nope …
used re-install, then added events manager
then activate at http://198.91.24.166/wp-admin/plugins.php?activate=true&plugin_status=all&paged=1&s=
results in same error …
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_home_path() in /home/rejonorg/public_html/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 128
this time I could NOT recover the site by just deleting events manager.
so I DELETED all plugins. I’ve now installed only events manager and will start re-introducing the plugins one by one and will test the date format change of events manager (which forced the error in an earlier scenario) to see if/when I get the same error.
I’ll let you know.
currently WP 3.6.1. I’ll try the re-install and let you know.
deleted plugin folder and site back up
hmmmmmm …
well ok for a while … then
changing date setting to mm/dd/yy and m/d/Y

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_home_path() in /home/rejonorg/public_html/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 128
ok now …
deactivated ALL plugins
installed and activated Events Manager
reactivated one-by-one (well actually did all the buddypress ones at the same time)all ok!

I would like to close this report, as I think the above may be a red herring. Unless you know something different, of course 🙂
I’m suspecting W3 Total Cache right now – just disabled it (it clobbered my .htaccess file on disable too!!!). Rebuilt .htaccess and I’m now running without wp caching.
We’ll see what happens now.
