Very welcome. Keep the feedback coming 🙂

    Hi Erik,

Great suggestion! We have just implemented it and released plugin version 1.7.5. It adds a filter block-temporary-email_message_blocked that you can use for message customization.

Let us know if you have any other ideas for improvements.

    Hi Alfredo,

Regarding example.com – I can’t see your stats but this could also be from our plugin itself. We currently do a test API call using example.com to verify the tpoken provided. This happens when you activate the plugin or save settings. So it should only be very few calls. This is obviously not ideal and we’ll solve this with the next version of our API. We also know that users sometimes enter example.com addresses instead of an actual email to try and game email verification. This might also account for some of the API calls you saw.

Adding a log is a great suggestion. It would provide better insight and control for installations with many plugins. We’ll keep that in mind for the next major release of the plugin.

Thanks for letting us know about your use case. We agree that IsTempMail is a great way to prevent abuse of free product offers and can be a good layer of protection against fraud.

Thank you for your feedback. I’ll close this for now. Feel free to send us an email to [email protected] if you want to stay in touch regarding upcoming releases of the plugin.

    Hi Alfredo,
sorry for the delayed answer. We currently use functionality that is built into WordPress to trigger the email verification. We do this for maximum compatibility with plugins built on top of WP.

We are aware this creates extra API requests in WooCommerce. Unfortunately at the moment we do not have specialized support for WC in our plugin. We will likely add it in the future, though.

A log is available from your IsTempMail dashboard, under “API statistics”.

In WooCommerce, do you want to use disposable email detection to prevent fraud? Or are you using it to prevent users from getting free products with a fake email? Or something else?

    Hi @retrobeatcom ,

Unfortunately the URIs setting cannot be used to generally disable checking except for signups. In WordPress Core login and signup use the same URL wp-login.php just with different parameters. So filtering by wp-login.php would also remove checks for signups.

URLs used can also depend on your specific WordPress installation. In WooCommerce for example, logins happen under /my-account/.

We are looking to improve this in future versions of our plugin. But the WordPress plugin landscape is pretty complex and we might not be able to deliver a general solution to check signups only.

    Hi @hamtagsly,

the plugin will check email addresses automatically. We have a database of 150k domains that are used for temporary email. The plugin will not allow users to sign up using addresses at these domains.

Additionally, you can manually domains (one per line) in the ‘black list’ field as seen in your screenshot. Each of the domains will be treated as blocked.

    Does this answer your question?

And thanks for asking, we will try to explain this better in the next plugin version.

@kingandfifthtech Yep. This is a common strategy of temporary email providers. They add new domains and remove existing ones. We are working hard to update our database as this happens. We add 10-20 domains every day.

You can save yourself the headaches of updating such a list by using the plugin Block Temporary Email – it will use a daily updated domain list.

You can also use the IsTempMail API to detect temp emails if you are developing your own project.

    Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Woocommerce validates email addresses using the WordPress internal mechanism is_email (called a ‘hook’). Our plugin simply extends this validation functionality. So existing validation by WordPress itself and other plugins is kept in place. So yes, it will work. 🙂

    Sorry for the late reply.
We had a problem with our email provider (Mailjet) and had switched to another email provider.

Please try again and see if it works for you.

    Hi,

I’ve checked and found that MailPoet sends the contents to /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php instead. So I updated our plugin to check the referer in case of AJAX requests.

Please update the plugin to 1.4.4 and it should fix the problem.

Let me know if it works for you.

    Hi,

Please deactivate, delete the plugin, then reinstall it. Make sure that the URI listed at “No check on URIs” is correct and matches your MailPoet import URL (see the import URL on your browser address).

Let me know if it works for you.

This issue was confirmed as fixed with the latest version 1.4.3 of the plugin 🙂
If you still have older versions installed, please update to the latest version.

    Hi Philip,

The plugin was last updated 2 months ago, and we didn’t change anything with our API.

I couldn’t reproduce the error (error box with no message) in my local WordPress with WooCommerce.

Did you add gmail.com to the plugin’s local blacklist? IsTempMail doesn’t block gmail.com (it’s whitelisted, actually).

You may try updating all the plugins to the latest version and see if it helps. If you can access the PHP error logs, check if there’s any related error message.

You can send me the IsTempMail setting page (WordPress Dashboard > Settings > IsTempMail) and your IsTempMail ID (login to IsTempMail, scroll down to get the account ID) to our Facebook page, or to email address support [at] istempmail.com, I’ll check it.
