In reply to: Custom Permalink Structure causing 404 errorsI have the same problem.
I am using the custom permalinks plugin – though I don’t know if that’s the cause of the problem.
I get a 404 error when clicking on categories and sub-categories – though it depends somewhat on my permalinks settings.
Here are the different settings i’ve tried and the outcomes:
/%category%/%postname%/
category = 404 error
sub-category = 404 error
post = no problem%postname%/
category = 404 error
sub-category = 404 error
post = no problem/%category%
category = no problem
sub-category = no problem
post = moves to sub category of that post and then – nothing happensThe custom permalink plugin has only one piece of advice – namely – to modify the .htaccess file. I have done this but the problem remains exactly the same.
Does anybody know what else I might try?
Kind regards,
jamie

In reply to: Has wordpress destroyed my contact form?Hi Godaddy,
Thank you for your continued interest.
I’m quite happy now with the Fast and Secure contact form – so I’m not going to invest more time on this – even though I will not be able to use any other contact form.
I hope the next person to encounter this problems reads this post and can contact GoDaddy support with confidence that the issue will be taken seriously.
Thanks again,
jamie

In reply to: Has wordpress destroyed my contact form?Thanks for your interest.
I have contacted GoDaddy support many times over.
It’s a bit like talking to a robot from the 1950s.
GoDaddy states repeatedly that they don’t support third party software (i.e. plugins).
When I pointed out that I had tested over 10 successful contact forms and therefore suspected it might be an issue between GoDaddy and WordPress –
GoDaddy kindly pointed out that they don’t support third party software.

In reply to: Has wordpress destroyed my contact form?As a last resort – the only way I’ve managed to solve this problem is by using Fast Secure Contact Form – which has a setting called “Enable when web host requires “Mail From” strictly tied to domain email account.”
This setting is required or GoDaddy will not send any email if the form sender uses a web mail address like gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc.
If you’ve also suffered at the hands of GoDaddy – this page will save you:

In reply to: URLs for blog posts do not include name of blogThere is a plugin called Custom Permalinks which allows you to set – on an individual basis the url for a given page or post.
If you’re a wordpress dimwit like me, this seems to be a good way to go.

In reply to: URLs for blog posts do not include name of blogI don’t want the site name, just the name of the page where the blog resides – so that the urls are consistent across the site.
I’ve looked at the custom structure options – but there’s nothing there would enable me to do this.
