The oversight must have been mine. I’ve tested my feed now in Feedly, Flipboard, and Google Reader (while it lasts).
The gallery does appear, but it’s a flat list of low-resolution thumbnails. I can understand that the Tiled Gallery is perhaps a bit much for a simple RSS feed, but is there some way I could convince the plugin to reference higher-res thumbs in the feed, or to arrange them in a grid?
