Ok an update here, I managed to get the whole thing working by using 10 hidden fields to store the default value strings… for some reason putting them into these hidden fields doesn’t cause the interference I am seeing when trying to do everything from text fields alone.

I had a Elementor Pro license and gave it a try using their template widget and got the same results. I ended up solving the issue by going to elementor tools and picking regenerate files and data.
