Yes i had issues with this as well the publisher says its a premium option but i opted out on installing a free option and used PublishPress Capabilities and exiting out users read capabilities per user group.

I used it to stop users from reading or accessing my registration page for a forum plugin, the plugin PublishPress Capabilities allows you to add permissions for each user group even allowing them acces to the admin control panel(So be careful), so i am sure this will be helpful for you.

No worries If anybody else needs this i used PublishPress Capabilities and was able to stop my users from accessing or reading the registration page.
