Aha! It was a security setting on my site. I needed to enable anonymous read access. Thanks to moshu and anyone else who even thought about helping!

Thank you for your idea, but I have already tried changing themes several times. I just tried again, but with no luck. Any other thoughts? Is there an “activate site” button, or something necessary to get the site online that I have just overlooked? The steps I took to make this happen were:
1) Created a site on gearhost.com
2) Modified the config file with the proper database settings.
3) Uploaded all the files (using filezilla) to the web site.
4) Activated the site using the install.php.
5) Followed the instructions.
6) Logged into the admin part of the site.
7) Created a couple of blogs, published.
8) Viewed the site – no luck
9) Changed themes, viewed again – no luck.
I can always get help when the guy I know gets back in town, but I was hoping to get it up before that. In either case I’ll post what the solution is in order to help out anyone else that comes across this.
