Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress 3.6 and Auto SaveYou are providing a lot of good information and hopefully one of the developers will use it and look into the issue. I had to modify the source code in order to turn of autosaves. After I did that, the issue went away. I just need to remember to save often.
Further info: it wasn’t any of my plugins or my theme. That doesn’t eliminate a few possibilities, but it never impacted the lock-ups.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress 3.6 and Auto SaveI realize your post it a couple weeks old, but that’s about how long I have been fighting the same issue with my web hosting. They appear to be idiots unfortunately.
When a new post starts auto-saving, it causes my connection to my host to be blocked. I can still access FTP, but HTTP is blocked. This block doesn’t just affect WordPress as I can’t even access a simple HTML file on the host (not WP related). After about 20 minutes, I can access my site again. Looking at the server logs, I am not getting to the web server. It looks like a security measure on my web host (myhosting.com). I can still access my site from a different IP address when the block is in place (I remote into my work location and the site responds from there).
At this point, I’ve given up on my web hosting ever figuring this out and I’m just going to change web hosting when my contract runs out with them.
If I could just disable auto-saving of draft posts, then maybe the problem wouldn’t get triggered in the first place.
