if you go to the remote site directly, backup settings and add the extra database there, does it work?

Are you backing up another database on the same server or a different host?

Mysql is normally protected from being used remotely so I’m just testing that the Mysql server is setup correctly for an external connection. If the site is able to be added in updraftplus, then it is a bug. I’m currently investigating this issue.
