I finally found the solution! I don’t know why I didn’t try it ages ago. I’m actually very mad at myself that I didn’t. In the slide settings, under “image scaling” I choose “do not scale images.” This made the thumbnail appear, however it left a large black rectangle in the middle which is the div the play icon is located in. If you have a stylesheet for your site, you can change the css property background-color to transparent for that div and that fixed the problem for me!

I did try including a YouTube API key and updating the video links as suggested above; however it did not work for me. For me it was definitely the scaling and cropping of the thumbnails. Now that I have chosen “do not scale” I found that the API key is necessary.

I hope this may be helpful for you.

No solution yet. Their support has been great in getting back to me very quickly. We’ve gone back and forth looking at different settings, but so far have not been able to determine what the issue is. Because my site is for a client, I cannot grant support access to look around to determine what is going on. One thing to note- it is working on mobile. Is that the case for you?

If you are able to open a ticket at [email protected] for this same issue and give them access to your site, that would be great. I’d love to figure out what is going on; otherwise I’m going to have to look for a different plugin.

Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful!
