  • Good to know polylang works. Thanks.
I am using xili with which I am also experiencing this problem. If it helps, you can see the behaviour here.
(I am not obligated to keep using xili though.)
    Thanks again

If you are asking if the reverting to English on cycling pages (previous/next month) is resolved. Sorry, no. I am still seeing the problem (That the display reverts to English).
    thanks

Thanks for getting back to me.
I have tried disabling several plugins and with further troubleshooting I discovered the issue only exists if I am using Page Builder by SiteOrigin along with Black Studio TinyMCE Widget for the pages I am attempting to edit.

Note: this issue is only happening to the Account and Registration pages (two of the six pages which are automatically created with the Ultimate Member plugin).
If all plugins are activated before attempting to use Page Builder for the problem pages I cannot even switch to Page Builder:

    Setup:
Have Ultimate Member (v. 1.3.13), WP Statistics (v.9.4.1), Page Builder by SiteOrigin (v.2.1.4) and Black Studio TinyMCE Widget (v. 2.2.4) (which works with Page Builder) activated.

    Steps:
    1. Launch Web browser (I tested with IE and Chrome)
    2. Login to Website as administrator
    3. Select the Dashboard, select Pages>All Pages
    4. Select Edit for the Account Page
    5. Select the Page Builder tab (top right of content container), if prompted, confirm you want to copy content into Page Builder.
    6. Click Update button
RESULT – 406 Not Acceptable message displays and page is not saved

NOTE: at step 6, sometimes the Update button becomes disabled (likely part of the issue). If this happens, navigate away from the page and return to the page (in edit mode) and you should be able to complete the steps and see the error.

If after step four I simply edit the page (i.e., add text) via the Visual or Text (html) tabs (i.e., do not user the Page Builder function), I can save with no error.

Below reflects the behaviour I originally observed as I already had the page working in Page Builder before activating WP Statistics. These steps continue from the steps above to recreate the behaviour I initially saw:
    7. From 406 error, click Home Page
    8. Access Dashboard and deactivate WP Statistics
    9. Again go to edit the Account page (via Pages>All pages)
    10. Select the Page Builder tab (top right of content container), if prompted, confirm you want to copy content into Page Builder.
    11. Click Update button – NOTE: this time the page saves
    12. Reactivate WP Statistics
    13. Return to the Account page and add some text to the Visual Editor container
    14. Click Update Button
RESULT – 406 Not Acceptable message displays and page is not saved

ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS: there seems to be a few scenarios where I can successfully update the page once during a single web browser session. However subsequent edits fail and trigger the 406 Not Acceptable message. This seems to be related to having a language assigned to the page using the xili-language plugin and/or having a second version of the page and the two pages being linked.

Example Scenario (Here I can save only on initially launching the web browser.):
SETUP – I have xili-language (v. 2.19.1) activated and have added two languages (en_CA & fr_CA). I have assigned en_CA to the Account page and created the French version of this page (fr_CA) assigning this language to the page and I link the two pages. Note: for both pages I am using Page Builder to create.
    Steps
    1. Logout of the Website and close the Web browser
    2. Relaunch Web browser
    3. Login to Website as administrator
    4. Navigate to Account Page in edit mode
    5. Click into Visual Editor container and add some text
    6. Click Done to close the container
    7. Click Update
    RESULT – no error (GOOD)
    8. Again click into container and edit some more text and click Done to close the container
    9. Click Update
RESULT – 406 Not Acceptable message displays. Only if I repeat the steps from above can I edit again on then only once per web browser session.

I hope this info helps you to reproduce the issue.
    thanks again
    Jill

Having the same issue. Just adding myself to receive follow-up posts

Thanks. If it was only that easy but I have spent hours trying to do exactly that – to no avail. I have set up msgid’s and msgstr’s (linked) and try to get them into the table without success. After reading the reviews I see I am not alone. If you can suggest the translation plugin you used, I would be extremely grateful.
    thanks

Ah! You want this on the UM support forum. Got it now.
    thanks

Addendum to last post: tested on IE and Chrome. When on Firefox, I was not able to save at all.

just noticed something – I can edit and save one of these problem pages first time in after launching the browser. After that, if I tried to edit and save, I get the 406 error message.
Please let me know how we can proceed with testing.
    thanks

Thanks again for both your replies,
I don’t see this as resolved but I can see these other users are having some of the same issues (not sure all my issues though):
To recap, when I have the page set to fr_FR:
    1. Prec/Suiv change to English on navigation to previous or next month (of note, if I refresh the page, I see French again)
    2. the tooltips for Prec/Suiv are in English
    3. the months are in English
    4. the abbreviations for the weekdays (and their tooltips) are in English
For 2-4, it seems the French translations are not in the language file. Am I missing something? I would have thought they should be there.

    Vincent,
I tried the twentyfourteen theme (in live preview mode) and the Prev/Next buttons were not even displaying. Everything was in English. I tried the twentythirteen theme and see the same issues I am having with my current theme
I don’t see how changing to fr_CA will help as there is no translation for fr_CA (and when I do change to fr_CA, the calendar is all English) Plus I do have the page identified a fr_FR and I see some pieces translated to French (Prec, Suiv and chargement… – these are in the language file).
We may change the website to English and fr_FR (instead of fr__CA) to resolve some issues, but it will be a bit a pain so I want to be sure it will be a good solution.
I am using xili plugins (language, dictionary & tidy tags) for translation. I have been happy with it but the instructions are difficult to follow. Perhaps I should look at another plugin. I don’t have $$ to spend on WPML unless I find it is the only solution.
    Any help appreciated
    thanks again,
    Jill

Quick question – Would it help to start with reinstalling UM? I only see instructions to uninstall but I don’t want to lose the what I have done with this plugin thus far. Is there a way to reinstall without losing my work?
When I contacted my host about this issue, they suggested starting with reinstalling the plugin.

    thanks for looking into this.

I only have one host which I am using. I will also need help understanding what conflict tests you want me to perform. Of note, I am looking further and it is not just Registration (& Inscription (French version of the Registration page)) but the Account (& Compte) pages that are throwing the 406 on saving.

The other UM pages appear to be fine in that I can modify and save (and no 406 errors): Login & Connexion, Logout & Déconnexion, Members, Password Reset & Réinitialiser le mot de passe & User.

I am having no issues with any other pages on my site.
    I hope this helps.
Please let me know how we can proceed.
    thanks

    Thanks Fulvio,
Good to know more people are seeing the same issues. Hopefully this will help troubleshooting.
I also don’t believe I have theme filters for prev/next. I have not set any. I am not totally sure I know where/how to check.
(gce_prev_text and gce_next_text does not exist in the theme code (but I did not expect it there). I don’t see where there are GCE settings to set filters.)

I would also be happy to try the version you provided in other post if you think it will help but I will need assistance with how to back up the current version.
    thanks
