As I said in my email, uploading them first to the media library (where I do need them) and then uploading them to Photo Gallery isn’t really a great solution. Here is a picture where I uploaded a 4mb file that Media Library shrunk to 1mb and you shrunk further to 390kb when I imported it from the Media Library. When I uploaded it directly from my hard drive it stayed 4mb. I did everything you suggested initially to prevent Photo Gallery from continuing to shrink my pictures. Any suggestions? My pictures are looking more and more blurred.

That might have helped but it hasn’t solved the problem. I have a picture the is almost 5mb on my computer. After uploading it to the media library and using ShortPixel it is reduced to 404kb which is fine. When I import this to Photo Gallery it is ending up at 183kb. I have set image dimensions to 0x0. I have also tried setting image quality to both 100% and 0%. There is no change. I cannot seem to get the size larger than 183kb which is just too small. When I download the photo it ends up on my computer as 279kb which is a little strange since photo gallery says it is 183kb, but either way it is too small. How do I stop Photo Gallery doing its own additional compression. My sharp 5mb photo is now somewhat blurred as you can see at https://roadsaway.com/2024-photo-gallery/#bwg21/3127.

Just to add to my previous question. My blog is just for my family. There is no interface with social media sites and no advertising and no followers etc. It just replaces my old emails. I do like your gallery but I don’t think that I need any fancy features. Let me know if you think that I am wrong. Thanks.

One more person voting for a simple way to change the default Link Setting to media. Removing functionality is not a great thing to do.
