In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Blank space above doctype causing feed error, MinifyOk, I somehow fixed it the blank lines at the top of the page source through luck, but unfortunately the feed is still broken
To get rid of the blank space, Disabling all of the plugins wouldn’t work, and changing the wp-config and header and functions php wouldn’t either, but what i did was I deleted totally the w3tc plugin and reinstalled it. Then I enabled all forms of Minify (tick all the boxes first, then enabled minify ), and it worked ( to get rid of the two blank lines above the doctype)
i hope this helps someone else if they come up on this issue – I spent a LONG time trying to sort it out.
As for the feed ( which was still broken at this point), I also got very lucky with a fix. I set Minify to manual on the main w3tc page, and then set minify to NOT minify feeds on the tabbed section. That was the problem – the feed was being minified!
hope this helps someone. I feel great- im a website retard and I won. I BEAT YOU FOUL ERRORS 😀

Bizarre but true. Hope that helps someone

In reply to: [Ultimate Maintenance Mode] Big Problem after uninstall, help appreciatedHi John,
thanks for coming back to me.
it wont happen for you, it only seems to creep up every now and then.
i’m thinking about deleting my caching plugin (w3tc) and seeing what happens, what you reckon?

In reply to: [Ultimate Maintenance Mode] Big Problem after uninstall, help appreciatedJohn I really need some help with this, it happened again for no reason today – just popped up out of nowhere. Not just on my machine either-
I went into w3tc cache and ‘cleared/emptied all caches’ and that seems to have fixed it for now, but i can’t figure out why it popped up ( i’ve cleared caches a shit load of times since the last time it happened.
There’s nothing in the plugin folder and it is deleted. Is there anywhere else this script (i assume its a script) could be running from?thanks.

In reply to: [Ultimate Maintenance Mode] Big Problem after uninstall, help appreciatedHi John,
i have cleared the cache i’d say a hundred times since it first happened. It’s w3 total cashe i’m using.
Weirdly, it happened last night on chrome and i had only just installed chrome last night. As i said it comes in and out when I change things on site like menus or featured content.
i think it’s something to do with the javascript but i haven’t a clue what i’m looking at. As you can see on the 5th or 6th line of code above ( sorry mods for doing it wrong), the script source is causing something no?
thanks nsilver4u,
wayyy too technical for me mate, cheers anyway. I’ll figure something else out.
happy new year

dont most people use some sort of caching plugin? Thisseems to be very limited until it works with caching.
I really think it might be the decent thing to do to clearly state on the plugin page that this thing doesnt work with minify, so people don’t waste their time, like I did.
is there any chance of a bit of feedback on these things? Even just to say whether we’re imagining them or not.
Cheers
The feed seems to be picking up now- maybe put on the ics feed section of the info site that there’s sometimes a delay on the feed pick up guys- it’ll stop the likes of me annoying you 🙂
has anyone idea what the problem here is? Im also on wordpress shared hosting and a validated feed isnt displaying for me either.
Also, the buttons dont seem to work on the calender page too.

In reply to: Splitting blog page upHi james, many thanks for coming back to me.
Thats a great point on the blog page with all posts, ill leave that out.
So i guess I just need to wind a plugin that displays posts in a certain way then in category lists.
Thanks again mate
essay i dont know alot about SEO stuff, but you should get a html code/Tag from webmaster tools – look for different ways to verify the site. Then take that code and put it into the yoast section for those codes ; then go back to webmaster tools and hit verify, and you should be good (it will tell you).
Im currently using yoast, but have the sitemaps disabled and have another site map plugin called BWP running aswell. Its not ideal, but it does the job.
esmi, i never took personal pot shots at anyone, so don’t twist things into somthing they are not. It’s quite irresponsible.
