Sorry, of course. I simply added the path of the plugin in question to the “Additional Files and Directories” section in Simply Static General Settings.
In my case that was /wp-content/plugins/instagram-feed/
I can’t pretend it was my idea, a colleague suggested it so I can’t give a detailed reason why, but it seems to have done the trick.
