FTP is no problem, but WordPress code is Greek to me. Can you tell me EXACTLY how to remove xcalendar?
Will my blog then work again, or will I also need to remove problematic code?

Yes, it seems this plug-in has been abandoned. Too bad. This is the third Splash Page plug-in I’ve tried, and the third that hasn’t worked.
