I found out what the problem was – I have password protected my site from the root directory i.e. domain.com so that was prevent WP-Piwik from accessing Piwik. I didn’t think of this at first because I thought the password protection is only for the outside users group – i.e. the visitors not for the scripts that run on the same server – I even tried accessing Piwik using path, not URL and it still didn’t work while the password protection was on.
