2.7.1 appears to solve this bug. though i did NOT upgrade (i am unable for various reasons) i replaced the 2.7 files:
/wp-cron.php
/includes/cron.phpwith the ones from the 2.7.1 release and i can totally schedule with no problems now.

essentially, is there a way to easily and completely customize what options are available on any of the admin pages?
there is surprisingly no information on this and no plugins that do this. i thought more people would be custom modding wordpress to something more than the boring blog.

i guess people aren’t making outside-the-box customizations of wordpress yet.
